Harper Signs Free Agent Deal With Minnesota Vikings

MACON – Former Mercer all-American wide receiver and return specialist Devron Harper will continue his illustrious career in the National Football League after inking a free agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, his agent announced.

Harper becomes just the second MU alum in the modern era history of the program (2013-Present) to sign a contract with an NFL organization. Former offensive lineman Jason Poe (2018-22) inked a deal with the San Francisco 49ers in the days following the 2022 NFL Draft.

A product of Conyers, Ga., Harper wrapped up his collegiate playing career with 14 school single-game, single-season and career records. A two-time All-Southern Conference pick, he earned all-American honors from multiple organizations at both wide receiver and return specialist following his senior campaign in 2023.

Harper amassed 4,358 career all-purpose yards and 23 touchdowns for the Bears from 2021-23, including 1,929 receiving yards (159 receptions) and 1,346 kickoff return yards (54 attempts).

The Vikings will hold the first of two rookie mini camps, May 3-6, at the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center in Eagan, Minn.
