MACON, Ga. – Mercer men's basketball unveiled its 2024-25 non-conference schedule on Friday, in the first season under head coach Ryan Ridder.
Â
The 13 game non-conference schedule includes four games at home inside Hawkins Arena.
Â
The season opener is set for Thursday, Nov. 7 inside Hawkins Arena when the Bears welcome VU-Lynchburg to Macon.
Â
After the season opener, Mercer will head to Chicago on Monday, Nov. 11 for its first road trip of the season to take on Big East member DePaul.Â
Â
The Bears will also travel to Columbia, South Carolina to play the South Carolina Gamecocks from the SEC on Thursday, Nov. 21. It will be the second straight season the Bears will play on the road against an SEC opponent after visiting Alabama last season.
Â
Heading into Thanksgiving week, Mercer will head to Florida for the Fort Myers Tip-Off at Suncoast Credit Union Arena. Mercer will play Jacksonville on Monday, Nov. 25 at 1:30 p.m. as Miami (OH) will face Siena at 11:00 a.m. The winner of each game will face each other at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 26 while the loser of each will meet in the consolation game at 11:00 a.m.
Â
On Wednesday, Dec. 4 Mercer will play West Georgia in its first of two games in the Atlantic Sun-SoCon Challenge. The SoCon and ASUN agreed on a two-year scheduling alliance in which each SoCon team will play two games against ASUN opponents.
Â
For the second game in the challenge, Mercer will travel to DeLand, Florida to face Stetson on Sunday, Dec. 8. It will be a homecoming of sorts for Coach Ridder who grew up in the area and played at Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach. Ridder also got his head coaching career started back in 2013 at Daytona State before spending three seasons at Bethune-Cookman.
Â
Mercer concludes its non-conference schedule with three games on the road against Queens (Dec. 18), Winthrop (Dec. 21), and in-state foe Georgia State (Dec. 28).
