Mercer Places 46 on 2024 SoCon Fall Academic All-Conference Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer University placed 46 student-athletes on the 2023 Fall Academic All-Southern Conference Team, the league announced Thursday morning.

The Bears' 46 selections ranked fourth among all SoCon schools. Football led Fall sports with 15 selections to the Academic All-Conference Team. Men's soccer (9), men's cross country (7), women's soccer (6), women's cross country (6), and volleyball (1) rounded out Mercer's honorees. 11 Bears maintained a perfect a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA: Natnael McDonald (men's soccer), Dalton Reyna (men's soccer), Nick Wanzer (men's soccer), Anna Bachman (women's soccer), Kendall Cook (women's soccer), Lena Dykes (women's soccer), Sara Engles (women's soccer),  Zachary Burke (men's cross country), Peyton Millwood (men's cross country), Yianni Pothoulakis (men's cross country) and Sarah Myers (women's cross country).

To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the Fall semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
