
Women Ranked For Fourth-Straight Week

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's cross country team continues to make program history by being in the USTFCCCA Regional Rankings for the fourth-straight week.Â
The Bears started off at no. 12 in the South Region for week one that was released on Sept. 15 for their eighth place finish out of 53 teams at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala. For week two released on Sept. 29, Mercer sat at no. 13 and stayed there for week three that was announced on October. 6 after their second place finish at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.Â
Nikki Harris, Mary Grace Parker, Emma James, Chiara Belfico and Olivia Jones have all been key contributors to the success of the Bears so far this season.
The men's and women's team will head to College Station, Texas to compete in the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course on Friday, Oct. 17. The Bears are coming off of a strong performance at the Georgia Tech Invitational where both the men's and women's team placed in the top three. Freshman Mary Grace Parker crossed the finish line first for the Bears in the women's 6k with a time of 20:56.3 for an overall 4th place finish. Buck Ledford led the men in the 8k with a time of 25:25.4 and a 15th place overall finish.Â
Texas A&M welcomes 37 teams to College Station including Abillene Christian, Arkansas State, Baylor, Houston, Incarnate Word, Lamar, LeTourneau, Lousiana, LSU, McNeese State, Middle Tennessee State, Nelson University, New Mexico State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Dakota, North Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma (W), Oklahoma City, Our Lady of the Lake, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU (W), Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulsa (W), UT-Arlington, UT-Rio Grande Valley, UTEP, UTSA, and Wake Forest (W).Â
The men will kick off the day with an 8k at 8:30 a.m. followed by the women's 6k at 9:15 a.m. This race will be Mercer's final tune-up before the Southern Conference Championship on Nov. 1.
