MACON, Ga. - The Mercer volleyball team took down Western Carolina in three sets on Friday night inside Hawkins Arena for the Dig Pink Game, earning their second win of conference play.

The Bears dominated at the service line posting ten services aces on the night while out-hitting the Catamounts 44 kills to 31. Freshman outside hitter Charlotte Thompson was lights out at the net with a match-high and career-high 16 kills (.517) on the night. Sophomore setter Sammi Bergjans recorded 16 assists, two service aces and seven digs while sophomore middle blocker Joselynn Sanjurjo tallied three blocks against the Catamounts. Sophomore libero Aubri Martin registered her third double-double of the season with 11 assists and 12 digs in the victory.

Mercer will host Samford on Saturday, Oct. 18, in Hawkins Arena to close out the first half of Southern Conference play. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-16	Mercer took an early 3-1 lead over Western Carolina to set the tone in set one. The Bears did not let the Catamounts within two points for the remainder of the set and Sammi Bergjans closed out the set with a six-point service run at the 19-16 mark to secure the win.
SET 2 I 26-24	Charlotte Thompson was dominant at the net in set two with seven kills to give Mercer the advantage. The Bears battled back from an 18-23 deficit after another multi-point service run from Sammi Bergjans. Back-to-back kills from Charlotte Thompson and Joselynn Sanjurjo sealed the deal.
SET 3 I 25-20	Western Carolina put up a fight in set three, exchanging points back and forth with Mercer until the Bears took an 18-12 lead after two Aubri Martin aces. A kill from Joselynn Sanjurjo closed the curtain on the match and sent Western Carolina back to Cullowhee, N.C. with their fifth loss of conference play.
