No. 6 Bears Close Out Regular Season At Auburn

MACON – The No. 6/7 Mercer Bears will close out the regular season portion of their 2025 schedule on Saturday when they travel to the Loveliest Village on the Plains to take on Southeastern Conference foe Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.

Saturday's game will be broadcasted live on SEC Network/ESPN+ with Richard Cross and Charles Arbuckle handling the duties in the booth. Rick Cameron and the rest of the Mercer Sports Network will call all of the action as well, and fans can listen to that broadcast on The Creek 100.9 FM, or by visiting Sportsmic. A live statistics link is also being provided by the Auburn athletics department.

MERCER/AUBURN SERIES
Auburn has taken all 13 meetings in the 129-year-old series (1896) with the Bears, including a 2-0 mark against Mercer in the modern day era (2013-present) of its program … The Tigers outscored the Bears, 506-11, amid the first 11 matchups of the series, including nine shutout wins … Auburn registered a 7-0 mark against Mercer from 1896-1912 when both teams were members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) … MU registered a series-best 271 offensive yards in the 2022 matchup, including 197 through the air … The Bears trailed the Tigers, 17-10, in the fourth quarter of the 2017 matchup before Auburn iced the game on a touchdown with 4:50 remaining.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Auburn will ride FBS's 10th-ranked rushing defense (91.9 yards/game allowed) into Saturday's matchup, while also boasting 6.9 tackles for loss/game (14th FBS) and 2.60 sacks/game (18th) ... The Tigers also carry the nation's 12th-best turnover margin (0.80), showing just six total turnovers in 2024 ... AU has dropped six of its last seven outings, with its lone triumph coming at Arkansas (33-24) on October 25 ... All six setbacks for the Tigers this season have come by 10 or less points, including a pair of overtime losses.

MU AWAY FROM HOME
Mercer is now 34-39 (.466) in true road games since football returned to campus in 2013, including a 34-27 (.557) clip against FCS competition ... The Bears are 24-20 on the road against Southern Conference foes since joining the league prior to the 2014 campaign ... MU has captured 12 of its last 17 regular season road games heading into the Week 12 contest at Auburn ... The Bears also boast FCS's fourth-longest road win streak (5 games) and have already recorded a single-season record five road wins.

ACTIVE RECORD WIN STREAKS
Mercer extended its school record (overall) win streak to nine games with the Week 12 win over Chattanooga ... The Bears eclipsed the school record for consecutive victories three weeks ago with the 52-28 win at Furman ... That result helped MU surpass the 2024 squad that reeled in its first six games of the season ... That 2024 run shattered the previous record of five that was jointly held by the 2013, 2022 and 2023 squads … The Week 9 victory over the Keydets also gave the Bears their first 5-0 start in conference play in the 51-plus seasons of the program.

NEXT WEEK FOR THE BEARS
With the Week 11 win at Western Carolina, Mercer clinched at least a share of the Southern Conference title, as well as the league's automatic bid into the NCAA FCS Playoffs which begin on November 29 at designated campus sites ... Mercer is 2-2 all-time in the NCAA postseason and is set to make its third-straight postseason appearance this year ...
