| Campbell held visiting Mercer to just 25.9 percent field goal shooting and used sizeable runs in both the first and fourth periods on the way to a 71-49 win over the Bears on Wednesday evening. Nahawa Diarra tallied a 7-for-8 showing from the free throw line on the way to a team-best 13 points. She matched a team-high with five rebounds as well. | |
| Â Â ABOUT THE BEARS | |
| The Bears (5-4) still lead the 8-team Southern Conference with a 33.8 percent shooting clip from the perimeter and have registered seven or more 3-pointers on a trio of occasions already this season. Mercer has been extremely efficient on the offensive glass as well, and have tallied 15.3 offensive rebounds an outing over the last four games. Forward Ariana Bennett, who has accumulated 991 points over her collegiate career, still paces the Orange & Black with 12.7 points per game, while fellow senior Nahawa Diarra has tacked up 12.1 points per game through nine outings. | |
| Â Â SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE STATE | |
| The Gamecocks (2-5) snapped a three-game skid with a 65-62 victory at New Orleans on November 22, but went 0-for-2 at the Pacific-hosted Tiger Turkey Tip-Off, including a double-digit setback to UC Davis. Jacksonville State averages nearly 25 shots per game from 3-point territory, but has canned just 30.7 percent of those attempts. Defensively, the Gamecocks have allowed opponents to shoot 42.4 percent from the field, and force just 14.6 turnovers per game. Senior Adriana Jones leads JSU with 11.1 points per game, while sophomore Kyera Thornsbury has come off of the bench in all seven games, but has still managed to put together NCAA Division I's third-best assist/turnover ratio (4.13). | |
| Â Â MERCER/JACKSONVILLE STATE SERIES | |
| Saturday's matchup will mark the first meeting between the former Atlantic Sun Conference rivals since Mercer's 46-39 win over JSU in Macon on Dec. 21, 2015. JSU leads the all-time series, 14-9, but the Bears have won six of the last seven matchups, including two of their last three trips to Jacksonville, Ala. | |
| Â Â ON DECK | |
