MACON – Mercer will lift the lid on its 14th season of intercollegiate beach volleyball this weekend when the Bears travel to central Florida to take part in the Stetson Spring Fling at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Courts.
The Bears will open up their portion of round-robin tournament play on Friday at 10 a.m. against the host Hatters, and close out day-one action against Eckerd at 2 p.m. Saturday's slate has the Orange & Black battling Nebraska at 9 a.m., and closing out their stay in DeLand, Fla., against Stephen F. Austin at 1 p.m.
Fans unable to make the trip can still follow all of the action for free via live statistics links provided by the Stetson athletics department.
Picked to finish fourth in the race for the 2025 Sun Belt Conference regular season crown in a preseason poll of the league's head coaches earlier this week, the Bears return nearly intact from last year's squad that recorded the most wins in the 13-year history of the program.
Among the returnees for the Orange & Black are senior Kathryn Corbett and Liv Diaz who combined to rattle off a 17-8 mark at the Pair No. 4 position last season. The tandem was also invited to compete at the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Championships in November.
Following this weekend's action, the Bears will return to the Sunshine State next week to compete in the UNG Duuuval Duals at the University of North Florida's Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex. The Orange & Black will make its long-awaited home debut, March 21-22, when it hosts the Bears Beach Bash.
