MACON – Mercer baseball standout Ty Dalley has earned his second SoCon preseason player of the year nod, this time from D1Baseball, the publication announced this afternoon in their Southern Conference preview. The Bears were also well represented in the publication's ranking of the conference's top prospects for the 2025 and 2026 MLB Drafts, as well as landing two players on the impact freshmen list.Â
Â
Dalley enters the 2025 campaign as one of the top returning hitters in the entire southeast. The junior outfielder ranks among the SoCon's returning leaders in virtually every offensive category, including the top mark in both home runs (21) and RBI (71). A reigning all-league first team and all-tournament team selection, Dalley slashed .316/.388/.693 a year ago to establish himself as one of the conference's premier sluggers. As a freshman in 2023, Dalley made an immediate impact for the Bears, starting 54 games. The native of Vidalia, Ga. clubbed 18 home runs, good for fourth in the SoCon, to go along with a team-leading 56 RBI en route to earning SoCon All-Freshman, SoCon All-Tournament Team and Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American honors.
Â
Dalley (5th) was joined by teammates Bradley Frye (7th), Parker Lester (8th), Terry Busse (9th) and Colton Cosper (16th) in D1Baseball's listing of the SoCon's top 20 prospects for the 2025 MLB Draft. Looking ahead to the 2026 Draft, Garrett Lambert (1st), Ely Brown (2nd) and Michael Graziano (7th) gave Mercer a conference-leading three representatives on the ten-member top prospect list.Â
Â
After being named the preseason SoCon freshman of the year by Perfect Game last week, two-way player Braydon Kersey was named as the league's number two impact freshman by D1Baseball in their conference preview. Fellow two-way player Collin Ewaldsen joined Kersey on the ten-member list, slotting in at number eight.Â
Â
Mercer opens their season a week from Friday, playing host to Milwaukee for a three-game set at OrthoGeorgia Park starting on February 14. Season tickets can be purchased for as little as $110, with single-game tickets being available for purchase as well.Â
