Mercer Sends Four To CSC Academic All-District Squad

MACON – The totality of the student-athlete was on full display for the Mercer softball team on Tuesday afternoon when the Bears sent four representatives to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District squad, the organization announced.

Seniors Emma Dorval and Laura Vigna picked up the accolade for the second-straight season, while sophomore Grace Roark was crowned with the distinguished academic award for the first time.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. Pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

The 2025 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Dorval earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from Mercer last month after maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA across the last four years in Macon. Pitts currently holds a 3.704 GPA as a kinesiology major, Vigna maintains a 3.921 GPA as a psychology major and Roark boasts a 3.964 GPA in pursuit of her biochemistry degree.
