> The weekend trip to Blacksburg represents Mercer's final two non-conference games of the season. The Bears hold a 21-12 record in non-conference play this season, including an 8-1 record away from home
> This weekend marks the Bears' first-ever trip to Blacksburg and the first meeting between the two sides since 2015. The Hokies traveled to Macon to open the 2015 campaign, taking two of three games. The only other meeting between the Bears and Hokies came in 1983, with the two teams splitting a pair of games in Macon

Scouting Virginia Tech
Saturday marks the 6th all-time meeting between the Bears and Hokies. Virginia Tech brings a 27-22 record into the week, including an 11-16 mark in ACC play. The Hokies are in the midst of a five-game losing streak, having most recently dropped a midweek contest at Liberty on Wednesday.
Sam Tackett leads the Hokies in almost all offensive categories, including batting average (.333), home runs (13) and RBI (42). As a pitching staff, the Hokies hold a 5.31 ERA, with starter Brett Renfrow leading the team with a 3.56 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 60.2 innings.
