MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's soccer and head coach Tony Economopoulos have announced the 2025 schedule, featuring 10 home matches at Betts Stadium.
The Bears' schedule consists of two exhibition matches, nine non-conference matches and nine conference matches.
Coach Economopoulos enters his 14th season as head coach at Mercer. The Bears finished last season, 11-5-3 overall and went 5-2-2 in conference play.
Mercer will open its season with two exhibition matches starting with a trip to Starkville, Mississippi on August 2 to play Mississippi State. The Bulldogs finished last season 19-3-0 and ranked 10th in the country. The other exhibition is in Macon on Friday, Aug. 8 when Tennessee Tech makes the trip south.
The season opener for Mercer is Thursday, Aug. 14 as the Bears travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on Oklahoma State out of the Big 12. The Cowgirls are coming off their best season since 2019 and earned a birth to the NCAA Tournament last season. It will be the fourth all-time meeting between Mercer and Oklahoma State and first since 2022.
The following week, Mercer will play Presbyterian in Clinton, South Carolina on Aug. 21. The home opener for the Bears will be Sunday, Aug. 24 against West Georgia. It will be the first ever meeting between the two in-state programs.
Mercer will then head west to Tuscaloosa for a Friday night clash on Aug. 29 against an SEC opponent in Alabama. It will be the second meeting between the two teams in the last three seasons after Alabama defeated the Bears in Macon in 2023.
The Bears will have an extended stay in Alabama as following the match against the Crimson Tide on Friday, Mercer will make the short trip to Montgomery to play Alabama State on Sunday, Aug. 31.
Mercer will leave Macon just once in September, with six of the Bears' seven matches in the month coming at home. A four-game homestand to begin the month starts with an in-state battle against Kennesaw State on Sept. 4. The next three home matches are against Gardner-Webb (Sept. 7), Winthrop (Sept. 11), and Jacksonville State (Sept. 14). The match against Jacksonville State will be Alumni Day.
Conference play gets started on Sept. 18 with a trip to Greenville, South Carolina to take on Furman. The Bears close out the month with home matches against last year's SoCon regular season champion Western Carolina (Sept. 21) and ETSU (Sept. 26).
Mercer begins its October slate with road trips to Chattanooga (Oct. 2) and VMI (Oct. 5).
The Bears then return home for a pair of matches against UNCG (Oct. 11) and Samford (Oct. 16).
After a match on Sunday, Oct. 19 at The Citadel, Mercer wraps up the regular season one week later on Oct. 26 at home against Wofford.
