
Bears Fall 1-0 On Senior Day

MACON – The Mercer men's soccer team dropped its contest with North Florida (5-3-0), 1-0, on Saturday night at Betts Stadium.
The Ospreys found the opening goal within the first 13 minutes of the match.
After halftime, Mercer's attack began to dominate the game. The Bears initiated an intense high press and won two corners in the first five minutes of the second period. Will Taylor rifled a shot into the upper corner and forced Luciano Natoli to make a diving save to keep the Bears off the board.
Henry Hampshaw made several incredible saves to keep the Bears in reach until the very end. The sophomore goalkeeper read Kaiss Mansouri like a book and denied the Ospreys' penalty shot in the 86th minute.
Mercer (2-5-2) is back in action this upcoming Saturday when the Bears travel to Wilmington, North Carolina to take on UNC Wilmington. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

- Hampshaw finished Saturday night's contest with five saves, a mark that the transfer from William Carey has reached two times already in his Mercer career. Hampshaw has made four of more saves six times this season.
- Saturday night's loss is the first time that Mercer has dropped a result at Betts Stadium this year. Before the contest, the Bears were 2-0-2 at home.
