
Mercer Wins Big, 101-63 Over The Citadel

Mercer's fourth game this season with at least 100 points
MACON, Ga. – Armani Mighty recorded his seventh double-double of the season to help power Mercer to a resounding 101-63 win over The Citadel Wednesday night from Hawkins Arena.
The 38-point win was Mercer's largest margin of victory in a conference game since a 40-point win over Samford in 2020.
Mercer had one of its best nights shooting the ball all season. The Bears were 34-of-58 (58.6%) from the field, 15-for-28 (53.6%) from three-point range and 18-for-20 (90.0%) from the free throw line. The Citadel went 22-for-50 (44.0%) from the field and made 10-of-26 (38.5%) three-point attempts.
Mighty finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Quinton Perkins II also finished with 18 points and went 4-for-7 from three-point range. Baraka Okojie added 14 points while taking a season low five field goal attempts. He also added a game high five assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST HALF
Kyle Cuffe Jr. got things started for the Bears with back-to-back three-pointers in Mercer's first two possessions of the game. A stepback jumper from Okojie put Mercer in front, 11-4. After a three-pointer from The Citadel brought the Bulldogs within four at 17-13, Mercer responded with an 11-0 run to go up 28-17. Perkins would score eight of Mercer's 11 points during the scoring run.
Okojie found Zaire Williams for a transition three that gave the Bears a 43-23 lead. Okojie knocked down his second thee-pointer of the half in the final minute of the first half to give Mercer a commanding lead heading into halftime, 54-31.
2ND HALF
The Citadel chipped into Mercer's lead in the opening minutes of the first half as Mercer's lead was 18 points at 64-46. A layup from Connor Serven put the Bears in front 76-48. A steal from Williams led to a transition three from Bendji Pierre to cap a 15-1 run for the Bears as Mercer would take a 84-49 lead.
Cuffe drove baseline and scored the bucket plus the foul to extend Mercer's lead to its largest of the night at 90-51. A tip-in from Mighty made it 98-60 with three minutes to play. Freshman Jaydon Cole would connect on a three-pointer for Mercer's final points in a dominant 101-63 win.
