MACON – Eight Bears took the mound and shut down the Florida A&M Rattlers (1-7) to secure a mid-week series sweep for the Mercer Bears (8-1) on Wednesday night at OrthoGeorgia Park.
Decisive Plays:
Mercer captured an early lead when Kaleb Huffman drew a walk with bases loaded in the first inning. The Bears tallied another run in the second inning courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Chriz Katz. Devyn McEachron pushed the Bears' lead to 3-0 by reaching on a fielding error that allowed Braydon Kersey to come home. Mercer would extend its lead to five runs in the bottom of the fourth when Huffman reached on an infield single and the Rattlers threw the ball away which allowed Katz and Brant Baughcum to come home. Florida A&M picked up its first run of the series off a passed ball in the fifth.
