
Bats Explode In Blowout Victory Over Georgia State

The Bears came off the bus swinging on Tuesday night. Chris Katz powered an RBI double to score Logan Shepherd in the top of the first. Mercer would play station-to-station and plate three more runs later in the frame. Georgia State scored its first run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the third. The Panthers scored four runs and took the lead in the fourth inning. Dylan LaPointe tied the game in the fifth with an RBI single before Eli Stephens pushed the Bears back in front with a sacrifice fly of his own. Michael Graziano extended Mercer's lead with his second RBI base knock of the night before Katz mashed his second double of the night to tally on two more runs. Brant Baughcum blasted his first home run of the season, a three-run shot to left field, to cap off the scoring in the fifth. Graziano left the yard for the second time this season to start the sixth and Braydon Kersey bounced his sixth home run of the season off the top of the scoreboard to make it 16-5. The Panthers picked up a run in the bottom of the seventh before Kersey retired the next two batters to end the game.
