
Strong Start Leads To Historic Win In Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Mercer baseball team improved to 18-3 for the first time in its 155-year history with a 9-2 win over Florida A&M (7-12) at Moore-Kittles Baseball Complex on Tuesday evening.
Decisive Plays:
Logan Shepherd wasted no time to push Mercer in front. The junior first baseman sent the first pitch of the game over the left field wall to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. A two-run double (13) by Titan Kamaka extended the Bears' advantage to three runs. Chris Katz piled on another run with an RBI double in the top of the second inning. Braydon Kersey pushed a two-run single into left field later a couple batters later. Florida A&M scored two runs in the third inning off a sacrifice fly by Alex Monile and an RBI single by Jay Campbell. The score remained 6-2 until Devyn McEachron blasted his second home run of the season out to left field in the fifth inning. Brant Baughcum brought Michael Graziano home with a sacrifice fly in the sixth and Parker Dastou plated a run by drawing a walk to cap off the scoring in the ninth.

- After tying Mercer's best start in program history through 20 games on Sunday, the Bears improved to 18-3 to reach the best start to a season in Mercer baseball's 155-year history.
- Logan Shepherd snapped an eight-game homerless streak with the first pitch of Tuesday afternoon's game in Tallahassee. The junior transfer began his first season in a Mercer uniform with four home runs through as many games. His first-inning blast against Florida A&M is his sixth of the season.
- After being announced a member of Baseball America's National Team of the Week, Titan Kamaka went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Rattlers. The senior shortstop is now slashing .503/.593/.821 with a 1.414 OPS through 19 starts.
