
Baraka Okojie Named to NABC All-District Second Team

MACON, Ga. - Mercer men's basketball junior guard Baraka Okojie was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches South Atlantic District Second Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.
Okojie, a junior guard from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, has had the best season of his career with the Bears. In 31 games played, Okojie ranked second in the SoCon in scoring at 19.7 points per game and led the conference with 5.3 assists per game. Both were career highs for Okojie.
Okojie scored a career high 29 points twice this season, at Elon on Nov. 29 and at home against Wofford on Jan. 10. He also had a career high 12 assists in two different games as well, first against Lipscomb on Nov. 9 and in the same game against Wofford where he scored 29 points.
Okojie scored in double figures in all 31 games and scored 20 or more points in 14 of those games. Okojie led the country in free throws made per game with 7.2 made per game. On the defensive end, Okojie finished tied for fifth in the SoCon with 1.4 steals per game.
