Mercer Returns Home For A Weekend Series Against Alcorn State

MACON – After dropping their first game in over two weeks, the Mercer Bears (11-2) return to the beloved OrthoGeorgia Park for a three-game series with Alcorn State (2-10) this weekend.

Notables:

These two programs have only played three games against one another. Mercer swept the Braves in a weekend series back in 2018. Across those three wins, the Bears outscored Alcorn State 46-7.
With Wednesday night's loss to No. 20 Florida State, Mercer's win streak was snapped at nine games. For three straight years, head coach Craig Gibson has led the Bears to a nine-game winning streak early in the season.
Titan Kamaka was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List as one of the nation's top 100 shortstops this season. Kamaka currently has the eight-best batting average and on-base percentage, has the 14th-most doubles and is ranked the 68th hardest hitter to strike out across Division I baseball. The Orlando, Florida native leads the Southern Conference in walks, batting average, doubles, hits and on-base percentage.

Alcorn State heads into this weekend sitting at 2-10 to begin the season. The Braves have a .211 team batting average with 46 runs scored on the season. Alcorn State has a 9.53 team ERA with 101 earned runs and 93 walks across 95.1 innings this year.
Senior RHP Hayden Konkler leads the Braves with a 0.96 ERA across 9.1 innings in six appearances this season.
Junior first baseman Cooper Harris leads Alcorn State offensively with a .308 batting average, four doubles, a home run and nine RBI.
