Decisive Plays:
Two elite arms took the mound to start the game and set the tone immediately for their respective teams. Garrett Lambert attacked the strike zone early and often and struck out six Terriers within the first four innings. Alec Bouchard matched the energy and shut down Mercer's offense until Brant Baughcum brought in the first run of the game with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fourth. The Bears doubled their lead the next inning with a Dylan LaPointe solo home run (8). Hunter Herndon made it a brand-new ball game with a two-run single in the top of the sixth. Chris Katz gave Mercer a four-run lead with a grand slam home run (13) in the bottom of the seventh. The Terriers capitalized on a fielding error and a pair of RBI singles and tied the ball game with a four spot of their own in the top half of the eighth inning before Reid Fagerstrom took the mound and struck out the next two batters to put an abrupt halt to Wofford's rally. Branton Little retired the next six Bears he faced and Fagerstrom matched him with three strikeouts in the ninth to send the game to extra innings. Wofford took the lead in the top of the tenth off an infield single by Logan Tribble. Titan Kamaka evened the contest once again with an RBI double down the third-base line that allowed Nathan Rowland to score from first in the home half of the frame. Lucas Manning gave the visitors yet another lead with a two-out RBI double in the top of the eleventh. Logan Shepherd tied the game yet again with an RBI single before Katz delivered the final blow, an RBI double, to cap off the electric night.Â
