Trodd Cards Historic Round In Day One Of SoCon Championship

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Nathan Trodd inked his name in Solina Golf Club history in the opening round of the Southern Conference championship in Columbia, South Carolina.

The senior from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, tied the course record for the lowest score in a single round after carding a five-under 66. Trodd sank the second-most birdie putts (6) and is tied for first individually after 18 holes.

Cole Hanson finished the opening round of the event as the Bears' second-leading scorer with a one-over 72. Henry Robards trailed closely behind and shot two over.

As a team, Mercer sank the third-most birdie putts (19) but also carded the most bogeys out of the eight-team field.

The Bears trail the leading Chattanooga Mocs by 13 strokes with 36 holes left to play. The second round is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28. You can follow along with live scoring here.
