Robards Leaps Into Third, Trodd Leads After Two Rounds Of SoCon Championship

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Henry Robards became the second Mercer Bear in as many days to tie the course record with a five-under 66 to jump into third place individually in the Southern Conference Championship standings at Solina Golf Club on Tuesday.

The sophomore from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, jumped 21 spots by sinking seven birdie putts in his historic round. Robards has the fourth-most birdies (9) of 40 individuals through 36 holes.

Nathan Trodd sits alone at the top of the leaderboard after carding an even 71 on day two of the event. The senior from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa tied the course record with a five-under 66 in the opening round and currently leads the field with 25 total pars.

The Bears trail the leading Chattanooga Mocs by 13 strokes with 18 holes left to play. The third round is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29. You can follow along with live scoring here.
