Robards Finishes Second, Mercer Sets Program Record At SoCon Championship

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Henry Robards recorded the best individual finish at the Southern Conference championship by a Bear since 2018 as Mercer registered its best team finish in program history at the Solina Golf Club.

Since joining the SoCon in 2014, the Bears had not finished higher than fifth as a team in the conference championship tournament. However, Mercer posted the lowest team scores on each of the final two days to propel itself into third place to cap off a historic season.

Robards was a catalyst in the Bears' jump in the standings. The sophomore from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, carded consecutive rounds of 66 with 14 total birdies across the final 36 holes. Robards joined Stanton Schorr as the only two Bears in Mercer men's golf history to finish in second place at the SoCon championship.
