
Women's Lacrosse Hosts Furman Friday In Big South Tournament Semfinals

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's lacrosse team begins postseason play on Friday evening when the Bears host the No. 4 seed Furman Paladins in the Big South Tournament semifinals. First draw from Five Star Stadium is set for 4 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
Friday will be the 16th all-time meeting between Mercer and Furman. Mercer leads the series, 8-7. The Bears won the regular season meeting back on April 8 in Greenville, 13-6.
LAST TIME OUT
Mercer celebrated senior day in style with an 18-8 win over Longwood last Saturday from Five Star Stadium, to cap off an undefeated Big South record and win the outright Big South regular season title. Senior attacker Caroline Glus led Mercer offensively with four goals, two assists, three caused turnovers and four ground balls. She was one of three Mercer players with hat tricks as Sofia D'Angelo and Josie Parrett each had three goals on the afternoon.
SCOUTING FURMAN
Furman enters Friday's game with a 10-8 overall record and 5-3 record in Big South play. The Paladins are coming off a 15-5 home win over Radford on Tuesday in the First Round of the Big South Tournament. Furman has a better record on the road than at home this year. The Paladins are 5-2 on the road but just 4-6 at home.
In conference games, Furman ranks fourth in the Big South in goals per game at 13 per game. Defensively in conference games, Furman ranks third in the Big South in scoring defense at 11.9 goals allowed per game. In Big South games, the Lancers average 9.1 caused turnovers per game which ranks seventh in the league. In the draw circle Furman ranks fourth in the conference with just 13.4 draws per game against conference opponents.
Sophomore attacker Lily Toole leads the Paladins in points (70) and goals (50). She averages 3.9 points per game which is second most in the Big South. Only Caroline Glus averages more points per game. Graduate midfielder Shae Insinga is second on the team with 49 goals.
Senior goalie Sailor Henderson has got the start in goal in each of the last four games for the Paladins after only appearing in two games throughout the better part of the season. She owns a .378 save percentage and a 12.3 goals against average.
