MARICOPA, Ariz. – The Mercer women's golf team wrapped up first round play at its postseason tournament at the National Golf Invitational in seventh place out of 10 teams, Friday afternoon from Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.

As a team, the Bears shot a first round team score of 15-over, 303. Wyoming was the only team to finish the first round under par as a team as they lead the field by nine shots at 1-under, 287.

Tylar Whiting had the best round on the course for the Bears with a 3-over, 75. That is good for a tie for 18th place in the field of 50 golfers. Whiting's 14 birdies in her first round were tied for the second most in the field. As a team, Mercer had 56 pars which was tied with Wyoming for the third most pars on the day.

The second round for Mercer will begin Saturday morning with Bhoomi Jagtap the first Bear to tee off from hole No. 1 at 9:25 a.m. ET (7:25 a.m. MT).
