
Mercer Sextet Named To ITA All-Academic Team, Bears Pick Up Team Honor

MACON – A banner year in the classroom continued to be rewarded handsomely for the Mercer men's tennis team on Wednesday when the Bears were one of 162 NCAA Division I teams to be tabbed as an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The announcement was headlined for the Orange & Black by six Bears that were named as ITA Scholar-Athletes with Alex Aldaz, Hod'Abalo Isak Padio, Shingo Masuda, Nemanja Stefanovic, Howell Burns and Cameron Douthit picking up the individual recognition.

Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2026, 1,008 Division I Men's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 162 men's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.

To be lauded as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the last academic year. Squads crowned as ITA All-Academic Teams maintained a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale).
