Whiting Cards Round Of 67 To Lead Bears After First Round At Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – Tylar Whiting carded a season opening round of 4-under, 67 and is tied for third place to lead the Mercer women's golf team after Sunday's first round at the Golfweek Fall Challenge from Caledonia Golf and Fish Club in Pawley's Island, South Carolina.
As a team, the Bears shot a first round team score of 10-over, 294 and are tied for 15th in the field of 23 teams. High Point leads the field by five shots at 11-under, 273.
Whiting's round of 67 is her lowest 18-hole score as a Bear. Her round consisted of six birdies, no bogeys, and one double bogey. Her day got off to a great start with back-to-back birdies on No. 10 and 11. On the front nine, she birdied three straight holes on No. 4, 5, and 6 to finish 4-under par and just one shot back of the leaders.
The second round for Mercer will begin Monday morning with Ella Salama the first Bear to tee off from hole No. 10 at 7:30 a.m. ET.
