Christian Floirendo was hired at Mercer University as an Assistant Director of Sports Medicine for men’s basketball on Sept. 14, 2020.
Floirendo came to Mercer from Purdue University, where he spent the previous five years. In his time with as a Boilermaker, Floirendo was the primary contact for swimming & diving, as well as the track & field programs. He also worked with football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.
Floirendo’s first two years at Purdue were spent as a graduate assistant at the France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center, where he worked with the men's lacrosse, men's rugby and volleyball teams. In addition to working at the recreation center, he was involved with the sports medicine staff in the athletics department, working with various teams, including, football, basketball, and swimming & diving. In addition to his work at Purdue, Floirendo also covered U.S. Youth Soccer Tournaments in Indianapolis in 2016.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Floirendo received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Florida Southern College in 2015 and a Master of Science in Health & Kinesiology from Purdue in 2017. While at Florida Southern, he was a student intern at Colorado State University, working with the football team in the fall of 2014. In between his sophomore and junior year at Florida Southern, Floirendo completed a summer internship with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League.
