Bendji Pierre poured in a career high tying 17 points off the bench to pace the Mercer Bears offensively in a dominant 100-50 win over Oglethorpe Sunday afternoon from Hawkins Arena.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 7th all-time meeting between Mercer and Clemson. Clemson has won all six of the previous meetings. The two teams last met on Dec. 10, 2016 when Clemson won, 90-47.
NEED TO KNOW
Mercer is currently on a 5-game winning streak. It's longest winning streak since winning five straight in December of 2023.
SCOUTING CLEMSON
Clemson is 7-3 this season, and is coming off a 67-64 loss to No. 10 BYU Tuesday night in Madison Sqaure Garden. The Tigers are undefeated at home this season at 5-0.
Clemson was picked to finish seventh out of 18 teams in the 2025 ACC Preseason Poll.
Clemson underwent its largest roster turnover under coach Brad Brownell. This past offseason that saw the 13 players from last season's team exhaust their eligibility or transfer.
Clemson was active in the transfer portal, adding Nick Davidson (Nevada), Carter Welling (Utah Valley), RJ Godfrey (Georgia), Jake Wahlin (Utah), Butta Johnson (UAB) and Jestin Porter (Middle Tennessee State). In addition to these six, Clemson also brought in four freshman.
Clemson is averaging 83.0 points per game and allowing 66.7 points per game. The Tigers are shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from three-point range. Clemson's leading scorer is senior forward RJ Godfrey who is averaging 12.2 points per game.
