2011:
Known primarily for quality defensive work at his midfield position, Betts had a breakout junior campaign thanks to his contributions on the offensive end of the pitch … One of only four Bears to appear and start in all 20 games in 2011 … Led the team with a career-best 12 points and finished tied for first on the squad and tied for ninth in the A-Sun Conference with five goals … Very efficient in the attack, scoring his five goals on just 17 total shots for an incredible .294 shot percentage … Also led the team and ranked tied for fourth in the A-Sun with three game-winning goals … Scored his first goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Appalachian State (Sept. 4) … Collected both of his assists in the 2012 season when he assisted on both Mercer goals in a 2-0 win over Georgia Southern (Sept. 18) … Netted the game-winning goal against A-Sun foe UNF (Sept. 29) … Rewarded for his performance both on the field and in the classroom by being named the 2011 A-Sun Conference Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year ... Voted onto the NSCAA Scholar All-South Region second team and named an All-Academic selection by the Atlantic Sun.
2010:
One of the hardest working players on the field, Betts followed up a spectacular freshman season with a solid sophomore campaign … One of only five Bears to appear in all 17 games in 2010, making 16 starts … Totaled four points from his defensive midfield position on the strength of one goal and two assists … Assisted on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over in-state rival Georgia State (Sept. 19) … Picked up his second assist of the season by assisting on the Bears only goal in a 1-0 shutout victory over Stetson (Oct. 14) … Salted away another Mercer victory by scoring an insurance goal in a 2-0 shutout against Lipscomb (Oct. 28).
2009:
One of only two Bears to appear in all 20 games last season … started in 18 of those 20 games as a true freshman and controlled the midfield play with his size and strength … was highly touted coming to Mercer as he was listed as one of the top “100 Freshmen to Keep an Eye On” according to collegesoccernews.com … certainly did not disappoint, finishing in a tie for third with six points on two goals and two assists … racked up 13 shots, 10 of which were on goal giving him a team-high .769 shots on goal percentage … earned his first collegiate point when he assisted on the Bears lone goal in a 1-0 A-Sun win over Lipscomb (Oct. 3) … scored his first collegiate goal in a tough 2-1 road loss to FGCU (Oct. 22) … made a huge impact on his second goal of the season when he scored Mercer’s third and final goal in a 3-0 shutout win over UNF (Nov. 7) in the first round of the A-Sun Championship.
