Coach Josh Marsh was named as coach of the Mercer Beach Bears in 2019
During his three years, Marsh has led the Bears to their first conference championship win since the 2016 season during the 2022 season by defeating Stephen F. Austin and following that victory up with a second conference championship win over Eastern Kentucky.
Coach Marsh has a clear vision for future program success that entails searching for the correct athletes that fit into the team culture he has spent the last four seasons cultivating. This vision is evident not only in the increased success of the team on the sand but also in the superb performance academically in the classroom. Coach Marsh demands high academic success from his teams as evidenced by the program earning the Presidential Scholastic award two years in a row.
Marsh earned a Bachelor of Psychology degree from Mercer University in December 2021
Before joining Mercer
Coach Marsh Attended high school at Marysville High School in Marysville, California, and graduated in 1991. Following graduating from Marysville High school in 1991, he attended and competed on the men’s volleyball club team at Chico State, California 1992-1994.
Following his time at Chico State, Coach Marsh Joined the U.S. Army in 1995 and served in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper from 1995-2008. During his thirteen years in the US Army, Coach Marsh was selected for the All-Army Men's Volleyball team in 1998. Coach Marsh continued to play volleyball competitively from 1995-2015, playing in 3 Association of Volleyball Professional (AVP) qualifiers. It was during this time he began coaching Indoor juniors in 2006 and later began coaching beach Volleyball in 2016
