
Softball Travels to Jacksonville for Conference Series

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to take on the University of North Florida for a key conference series. North Florida currently ranks third in the A-Sun standings while the Bears are in a tie for sixth.
Last Time Out
The Mercer women's softball team ousted ACC opponent Georgia Tech 9-1 in a mid-week matchup.
Freshman Ashton Holt and juniors McKenzie Woody and Krista Kennedy led the way for the Bears contributing two RBIs each. Freshman Kaytlin Haney and senior Sarah Santana contributed one RBI each in the winning effort.
Woody and Haney also contributed one stolen base each.
Senior pitcher Kerri Nidiffer was the winning pitcher on the day allowing only two hits against the Yellow Jackets.
Scouting the Ospreys
The Ospreys enter the match against Mercer with a 30-11 overall record and a 8-4 conference mark.
Danica Mandarano is the leading hitter for UNF with a .339 batting average and six stolen bases. Kelly Wilson and Marissa Thomas also boast high batting averages. Wilson ranks second on the team with a .315 average while Thomas is not far off with a .308 batting average. Wilson is tied with two other players in stolen bases with nine.
Kaylie Wallace is the top pitcher for UNF. She has appeared in 25 games and has a 1.33 earned run average. She has struck out 92 batters this year and his limited opposing teams to a .238 batting average.
The Bears play a doubleheader against the Ospreys on Saturday with game times set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Mercer will finish out the series on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start.
