
Softball Plays Final Non-Conference Tilt Against Savannah State

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team hosts Savannah State for their final mid-week non-conference tilt on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Bears extended their losing streak to five as they were swept in the series against the Lipscomb Bisons.
The first game of the series saw the Bears produce nothing offensively as they were shut out 8-0. The Orange and Black only registered three hits in the outing.
In the second game of the series, Mercer saw improvement, this time scoring six runs before ultimately falling 10-6 to Lipscomb. Both junior Randi Rea and freshman Natalie Shiver batted in two runs on the strength of a single hit each.
The final game of the series saw the Bears quiet on the offensive front once again, this time only scoring a single run. Junior McKenzie Woody went 3-for-4 on the day while senior Sarah Santana registered a single RBI.
Scouting Savannah State
The Bears have met Savannah State twice already this season. Both games were played at the FIU Classic and the two teams split. Savannah State won the first outing 6-2, while Mercer ousted them in the second meeting of the two squads 11-4.
The Tigers are led offensively by Torrian Wright and India Morgan. Wright boasts a .394 batting average and 41 RBIs off of 43 hits, with 12 of those being homeruns. Morgan comes into the matches with a .359 batting average.
Madison Hedderly has appeared on the mound for the Tigers in 27 of the team's 39 games this year. Hedderly has a 3.76 ERA.
