
Mercer Softball to Host USSSA Florida Pride on Nov. 13

MACON, Ga. – Mercer University's softball program is one of six collegiate teams selected to take part in the National Pro Fastpitch's (NPF) United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Florida Pride's 2014 Fall Tour, as announced by the athletic department on Thursday. Ticket sales for the exhibition game, which will be held at Sikes Field on November 13th at 7 p.m., are now available for purchase.
All tickets for the event are being sold for $5 through Mercer Ticket Sales. Tickets are available in advance by clicking here. Additional tickets will also be available for walk-up sale on the day of the event.
The USSSA Florida Pride's schedule includes six different exhibitions throughout the Southeast, featuring stops at Georgia, Georgia Tech, Wallace State, UAB, Mercer and Florida State from November 6-15th.
Pride players participating in the game include two-time NCAA National Player of the Year and Canadian Olympian Danielle Lawrie, two-time USA Olympian Kelly Kretschman, 2013 NPF Offensive Player of the Year GiOnna DiSalvatore and the 2014 NCAA batting champion Courtney Ceo.
Additionally, other former Division I players on the roster are Bridgette Del Ponte (Arizona), Amanda Kamekona (UCLA), Jordan Taylor (Michigan), Cassie Tysarczyk (Texas A&M), Megan Willis (Texas), Breja'e Washington (Texas), Kristyn Sandberg (Georgia), Angeline Quiocho (Brigham Young) and Cassidy Bell (Penn State).
Mercer returns 14 players from last year's team that finished 37-19, including seven starting position players. Among the returners are sophomores Taylor Miller, Kirsten Stevens and Caroline Taylor, who each earned Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team recognition a year ago.
The Bears' matchup with the USSSA Florida Pride concludes the team's 2014 fall schedule. Mercer will officially open its 2015 campaign hosting The Mercer Invitational on February 6-8.
