
Mercer Set for Semifinal Showdown Against Top Seeded Mocs

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Mercer University softball team squares off against the SoCon's top seeded Chattanooga Mocs. Mercer took two out of three at home against the UTC on April 26 after severe weather pushed all three games to a Sunday triple-header. Mercer took game one of the series with a 5-4 walk-off homerun before dropping game two 8-2. The Bears bounced back in the series finale with an 8-0, five-inning shutout to hand the Mocs their first series loss of the 2015 campaign.

FRIDAY'S PROBABLE STARTING PITCHER
LHP Kirsten Stevens (25-8, 2.70 ERA) vs. RHP Taylor Deason (12-5, 2.39 ERA)
LAST TIME OUT
The Bears defeated the No. 2 seeded Samford Bulldogs 2-0 in a rematch between Kirsten Stevens and Mollie Hanson. In two regular season meetings, the pitchers split the contest with one win apiece. Ironically the final scores in all three contests was 2-0.
THE BEARS' STORYLINES
- Kirsten Stevens has been dominate so far in the tournament. The sophomore hurler has yet to allow a run in 13 innings pitched.
- The Bears are riding the momentum of back-to-back shutouts into a key game against the Mocs. The winner of tomorrow's matchup will head into the championship, while the loser will have to face Western Carolina or Furman in the consolation bracket finale for a chance to play for the conference championship.
