CHATTANOOGA – Mercer scored five times on four hits in the top of the first to stake claim to an early lead, but home-standing Chattanooga rallied for six unanswered runs, including a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10^th frame, to finish off a series-opening doubleheader sweep of the Bears on Friday afternoon at Frost Stadium.

Chattanooga (15-20-1, 3-5 SoCon) opened the twinbill with an abbreviated 8-0 victory, pounding out 10 hits and erupting for six runs in the third to fuel the win. The setbacks dropped Mercer (15-20, 3-5) to 0-12 away from Macon this season.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 3	Chattanooga tacked up six runs on as many hits to break open an otherwise close game. Baileigh Pitts got the scoring started on a RBI single with the fourth at-bat of the frame, but the Mocs got RBI knocks twice in the next three at-bats before three consecutive bases-loaded free passes forced in three more scores.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
TOP 1	Mercer came out of the gates on a mission, scoring five times on four hits in the top of the first inning. Olivia Lenzen gave MU its first lead of the afternoon on a 1-out RBI single, but the Bears added to their advantage on 2-run singles by both Megan Loughren and Mariyah Sanchez.
BOT 6	Abi Pikas singled to lead off the frame and moved all the way to third base on a wild pitch and a sacrifice bunt. A 1-out bunt single from Ava Cowart brought Pikas scurrying home with the game-tying run.
BOT 10	With the international tie breaker rule in effect, Abi Pikas moved to third base on Lexi Cooley's sacrifice bunt, and Zoe Wright finished off the comeback with a knock up the middle that resulted in a late throw to the plate.
