RESULTS
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Justin Connelly led the field with 11 birdies and Jerry Ren's 4-under-par scoring on Par 5 holes was the best over the first two rounds as Mercer is in fourth place with one round to play at the Kenny Perry Invitational hosted by Western Kentucky University.
Connelly was consistent throughout the day but in the second round he found his groove, carding a 5-under-par 67 second round at the par-72, 7,219-yard course at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green. In that afternoon round, Connelly fired four birdies in the span of six holes around the turn.
He enters Tuesday's final round just two strokes back of the individual leader while Mercer is fourth, one stroke ahead of Cleveland State and seven strokes ahead of Kentucky.

MERCER ON THE TEAM LEADERBOARD
The Bears finished the first two rounds of action in fourth place, one stroke ahead of Cleveland State (+11) and seven strokes ahead of Kentucky (+17). Mercer trails Jacksonville State (+6). Eastern Kentucky (-5) sits atop the leaderboard while host Western Kentucky, at even-par, is second.
MERCER ON THE INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
Part of that fourth place finish after two rounds is due to three Bears golfers enter the final round in the top 15. Justin Connelly, after firing 11 birdies on the day and a 5-under-par second round, is tied for fourth at 3-under-par. He is just two strokes back of WKU's Billy Tom Sargent, the individual leader. Jerry Ren, who dominated the par 5 holes Monday with a 4.50 stroke average, is tied for seventh while Hayes Rule is tied for 13th.
NEXT ROUND PAIRINGS
Mercer will tee off the final round of the Kenny Perry Invitational starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday with tee times set for every 10 minutes. The Bears will be paired with Cleveland State and Kentucky.
COACH KAYDEN'S TAKE
On Justin Connelly:
"Justin Connelly obviously had a tremendous day with a 5-under-par second round. He hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens and that is what you need to do on this golf course. He is in a great position going into the last today."
On the challenging course and what the Bears need to do:
"Team-wise, we are in good position. We just need to come out and have a solid day tomorrow. The key for tomorrow will be to just keep the ball in play. The rough is very high and if you miss a shot, it is very difficult to make pars and birdies from the rough. Tee shots are a premium on this golf course and if we can do that, I think we can have a very successful day on the final day."
