MACON, Ga. – The Mercer University men's tennis team defeated Alabama State, 6-1, on Sunday and has now won six of its last seven matches.
"We had a good effort today after a long match yesterday," said Head Coach Eric Hayes. "We finished matches when we got ahead, which we didn't do yesterday. We're on a little roll now."
Alabama State won the first doubles match, but Mercer won at flights one and two to secure the doubles point.
The Bears picked up the first three singles points to clinch the match, 4-0, over the Hornets, a 2015 NCAA Tournament participant.
Alabama State won at flight three to earn a point, but Mercer countered with wins at flights four and five to close out the match and move the score to 6-1.
