Mercer Takes On No. 3 Florida State

MACON, Ga. – The Bears are back on the road for a mid-week matchup at No. 3 Florida State as the Mercer women's soccer team plays its penultimate non-conference match of the season.

The Bears hosted Troy on Friday and played the Trojans to a 0-0 double-overtime draw. Mercer has recorded two straight shutouts and over 200 consecutive scoreless minutes of play.

Florida State owns a 5-0 record in the series with Mercer. The last time the teams met on the pitch was 2011, a 4-0 win for the Seminoles.

SCOUTING FLORIDA STATE
Mercer marks the final game of Florida State's non-conference slate, during which the Seminoles have only given up one goal. FSU's lone loss was a 1-0 decision against South Alabama. Two days after Mercer played Troy, Florida State needed extra time to record a 1-0 victory over the Trojans.

Deyna Castellanos leads Florida State with four goals and eight points, as well as two game-winning goals. Castellanos ranks fifth in the ACC in goals per game (0.67) and game-winning goals, while currently sitting at 10th in the conference in total goals. Macayla Edwards and Kaycie Tillman have each tallied a team-leading three assists, tying them for eighth in the ACC in total assists and third in assists per game (0.50). Along with Megan Connolly, Edwards and Tillman are tied for second on the team with five points each.

Cassie Miller has spent all but seven minutes in goal for the Seminoles this season. She has made 10 saves and allowed one goal for a .909 save percentage and 0.17 goals-against average. Miller leads the ACC in both GAA and save percentage, while ranking sixth and 17th nationally.

Maddie Clark leads Mercer with four goals and nine points, ranking the redshirt senior second in the Southern Conference in total goals and third in total points. Freshman Logan Culver and senior Abbey Reddig have each notched a pair of goals for the Bears this season, tying for third on the team with four points each.

Sophomore Caroline Smith has dished out a team-leading three assists, placing her third in the SoCon and 73rd nationally in total assists. Smith also ranks third in the league in assists per game (0.43).

As a team, Mercer's 13 goals this season ranks second in the SoCon and 81st nationally, while the Bears' 35 points ranks third in the league and 98th in the country.

Senior Cristina Mursuli and freshman Leah Cochran have split time in goal for Mercer thus far. Mursuli has played 425 minutes, made 19 saves and allowed 10 goals for a .655 save percentage and 2.12 GAA. Cochran has spent 205 minutes in goal, made 11 saves and allowed two goals for a .846 save percentage and a 0.88 GAA.
