Mercer Continues Home Swing Against Georgia Southern

MACON, Ga. – As winners of three straight matches dating back to Sept. 8, the Mercer men's soccer team (5-1) will host intrastate foe Georgia Southern (2-3-1) at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Bear Field.

SERIES HISTORY
Needless to say, Mercer and Georgia Southern's programs have an extensive history on the pitch. Saturday's match will mark the 48th time they have faced one another, with the Bears holding a slim 24-23 advantage. The teams last faced one another in 2014 when Mercer claimed double overtime victory at Georgia Southern as Will Bagrou scored the game-winning goal.

Since joining the Southern Conference in 2014, Mercer has the best overall record in the league at 30-14-3 (.663).

NOTABLES

The Bears own the Southern Conference's best winning percentage (.833) this season and lead the way with five wins as well.
Will Bagrou's two-goal performance against Jacksonville on Wednesday vaulted him into the team-lead with seven points and three goals. Both figures rank second in the SoCon.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Georgia Southern will arrive in Macon in the midst of an early season skid, going 0-2-1 in their past three matches. Within those three matches, the Eagles have been defeated by Jacksonville and South Carolina, both of which Mercer has defeated so far in 2016.

Blake Wilson leads the offensive charge for Georgia Southern with eight total points and four goals. Thor Sveinbjornsson has totaled three assists, while Chase Herzog has logged four starts in goal and owns a 0.647 save percentage.
