Bears Host ETSU in Sunday SoCon Matchup

MACON, Ga. – Mercer continues conference play during the opening weekend of Southern Conference play as the women's soccer team hosts ETSU on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Bears dropped their SoCon opener on Friday night against Western Carolina. The Catamounts scored in the 31st minute off a header following a corner kick.

SERIES HISTORY
Mercer owns a 9-2-2 record in the all-time series with ETSU. Last season, the Bears and Bucs played to a 1-1 draw during the regular season and Mercer pulled out a 3-2 win in the first round of the SoCon Tournament.

SCOUTING ETSU
ETSU opened the SoCon season with a 4-1 win over The Citadel on Friday night. Irina Brutsch and Isabel Hodgson led the Bucs with a goal and an assist apiece.

Eleonora Goldoni leads ETSU with six goals and 14 points, followed closely by Simona Koren with five goals, three assists and 13 points. Brutsch has tallied a team-leading five assists, while Hodgson and Emily McKerlie have each dished out four assists. Brutsch leads the conference and ranks 28th nationally with 0.57 assists per game, while she and McKerlie are tied for first in the league and 56th nationally in total assists.

Jasmine Elliott has spent a majority of the season in goal for the Bucs, making 42 saves and allowing 12 goals. Elliott has recorded a .778 save percentage and a 1.30 goals-against average. Elliott also leads the SoCon with four shutouts so far this season.

MERCER NOTES
Maddie Clark leads Mercer with four goals and nine points, ranking the redshirt senior fourth in the Southern Conference in total goals and fifth in goals per game (0.50). Freshman Logan Culver and senior Abbey Reddig have each notched a pair of goals for the Bears this season, tying for third on the team with four points each.

Sophomore Caroline Smith has dished out a team-leading three assists, placing her fifth in the league in total assists and sixth in assists per game (0.38).

Senior Cristina Mursuli and freshman Leah Cochran have split time in goal for Mercer thus far. Mursuli has played 605 minutes, made 30 saves and allowed 13 goals for a .698 save percentage and 1.93 GAA. Cochran has spent 205 minutes in goal, made 11 saves and allowed two goals for a .846 save percentage and a 0.88 GAA.
