Bears Look to Get Back on Track at The Citadel, Wofford

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer volleyball team (7-13, 2-6 Southern Conference) is set to travel to South Carolina where it will face The Citadel in Charleston at 6 p.m. Friday and Wofford in Spartanburg at 6 p.m. Saturday.

NOTABLES

Mercer ranks second in the SoCon in hitting percentage (.215) with Paige Alsten leading the Bears with her .346 hitting percentage. She ranks second in the conference individually.
Claire Waliczek leads the Bears in assists (9.87), ranking third in the SoCon.
Emily Krogman ranks second in the SoCon for service aces (30).
Morgan MacGilvary and Waliczek both lead the Bears with eight double-doubles for the season; Krogman is right behind them with seven double-doubles for the season.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer is 8-0 all-time vs. The Citadel, including its 3-1 win over the Bulldogs on Sept. 23 at Hawkins Arena. The Bears trail Wofford, 6-9, in their series following a 3-0 sweep by the Terriers on Sept. 22.

SCOUTING THE CITADEL
The Bulldogs dropped to 7-18 (1-7) with losses to UNCG and Western Carolina last week. The Citadel ranks first as a team in service aces per set (1.43) with Caricia Rodriguez notching 22 individually. Sarah Dobrich backs the defense with 83 total blocks for the season, ranking third in the SoCon. The Bulldogs are set to also host Samford this weekend.

SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford, which ranks third in the SoCon, will host Samford (Friday) and Mercer this weekend after falling in straight sets to Furman in Greenville, S.C. on Wednesday. The Terriers own a 15-8 (5-4) record. Katie Cronister, leads the SoCon in kills per set (4.38) and service aces (48) after earning SoCon Player of the Week honors for her performance Oct. 3-8. Taylor Gill ranks third in the SoCon for digs per set (4.49).
