Bears Fall to ETSU 3-0 on Senior Day

MACON, Ga. – Mercer came up short in its second match of the week, falling to ETSU 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-16) on Saturday afternoon. The match also served as senior day for five fellow Bears.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1 (14-25) |Â ETSU got a quick jump on Mercer, outscoring the Bears 7-5. After marking another 8-2 run, the Bucs extended its lead to 20-11. Danielle Faust's three kills could not pull the Bears through for the opening set win.

Set 2 (21-25) |The Bucs did not slow down in set two, outscoring Mercer 6-2 out of the gate. After an 8-1 run, the Bears took the lead at 13-10 after an attack error by ETSU. Mercer kept the advantage until the Bucs tied the set up at 20 following Claire Waliczek's service error. ETSU rode the momentum down the stretch, outscoring Mercer 5-1 over the final six points to claim the four-point victory.

Set 3 (16-25) |A kill by Gabbi Meyering sparked set three for the Bears, but a quick 6-1 turnaround by the Bucs forced Mercer to trail for the remaining of the contest. Despite four kills by Morgan MacGilvary, Mercer could not tighten the nine-point gap, falling to ETSU 25-16.
NOTABLES
Mercer will conclude its five-match home streak on Wednesday, Nov. 8. The Bears will face SoCon foe, Samford at 6 p.m., resulting in the last home match of the season.
