Mercer Faces Samford Wednesday in Home Finale

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer volleyball team (9-18, 3-11 Southern Conference) will host Samford in a mid-week conference match at 6 p.m. Wednesday to wrap up its home schedule at Hawkins Arena.

NOTABLES

Mercer is 5-5 in home matches this season. The Bears can clinch a winning record at home for the third straight season with a victory Wednesday.
Paige Alsten ranks second in the SoCon in hitting percentage (.337) and fifth in kills per set (3.66). She has recorded double-digit kills 20 times this season.
Emily Krogman ranks fourth in the SoCon for service aces (0.34).
Maddie Nunley has recorded at least 36 assists in three of the last four matches played, including a career-best 49 against Western Carolina.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer trails Samford, 27-7, in their all-time series. The Bears did not have luck against the Bulldogs on Oct. 11, falling 3-1 on the road. Mercer's last win over Samford came on Oct. 16, 2015 at home (3-1).

SCOUTING SAMFORD
The Bulldogs (12-16, 7-7), are coming off of a 3-2 win against Chattanooga on Senior Night on Saturday. Key players for Samford include Shayla Phillip, who totaled 18 kills Saturday, Krista Boesing who ranks second in the SoCon for kills (4.10) and Grace Tiesman, who averages 3.84 digs per set. Samford's junior setter, Taylor Anderton, is averaging 9.13 assists per set.
