Mercer Kicks Off 2017 Donor Drive Challenge

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Athletic Foundation kicked off the 2017 Donor Drive Challenge, the annual event that aims to solicit 200 gifts in seven days.

The Donor Drive Challenge is geared towards raising dollars for the newly created Athletic Excellence Fund, which was developed to enhance Mercer's athletic offerings and student-athlete experience. The first $15,000 of this year's challenge will directly fund the production of Mercer's student-athlete awards banquet, The Tobys, helping provide a full buffet meal, an orange carpet photo area and special audio/visual presentations among other items.

Every gift – regardless of size – between February 27 and March 5 will count towards the goal of 200 gifts. If the Foundation can meet the 200 gift goal, loyal Mercer supports Cherokee Brick & Tile, Five Star Automotive, Reeves Roland & Abbott Insurance and Auto-Owners Insurance will provide a combined total of $30,000 in matching support.

Over the past few years the Athletic Foundation has provided the resources for several key initiatives which have had dramatic impacts on the student-athlete experience. The Foundation helped provide funding to assist in the launch of the University's groundbreaking ESPN3 initiative while also aiding in the purchase of championship rings, investments in NCAA Tournament travel and other supporting funds for facility upgrades, operational budgets and scholarships.
