
Bears Resume ASUN Play against Coastal Carolina

Mercer set for its first-ever beach volleyball TV broadcast
MACON, Ga. – Mercer welcomes ASUN Conference foe Coastal Carolina to Bear Beach for its final two home matches of the 2017 campaign Wednesday at 3 and 5 p.m.
Both matches will be broadcasted on ESPN3, marking the program's first-ever televised home matches. The Bears (8-5, 1-0 ASUN) defeated UAB twice last Saturday to improve to 2-0 at home and are three wins away from setting a new program record (11). Coastal Carolina (0-3, 0-0 ASUN) has played only three matches so far this season, dropping contests to South Carolina and UNC Wilmington on the road two weeks ago.
Mercer will additionally honor senior Emma Peel in the second leg of its Senior Day festivities, which will be held in between the two matches.

NOTABLES
- A pair of wins Wednesday would give Mercer 10 for the season, tying a program record set in both 2015 (10-10) and 2016 (10-13).
- Two wins would additionally tie Mercer's record of four ASUN wins in a single season.
- Mercer is 2-0 all-time against the Chanticleers, defeating them 4-1 and 3-2 on neutral courts last year. The latter win came on the second day of the ASUN Tournament.
- Mercer and Coastal Carolina will meet once again this weekend (April 2) in a nonconference match to round out their three-match season series.
- Tori Penrod/Emily Krogman are 10-3 in the No. 1 seed this season. They were named the ASUN Pair of the Week for play March 6-12.
- Danielle Faust/Claire Waliczek have proven to be a tough pair to face, owning a 9-4 record this season. The duo has primarily played in the No. 3 seed, but one its first match of the year at the No. 2 last weekend.
- Mercer is honoring its four seniors – Penrod, Emma Peel, Gretja Otten and Demi-Shay Watchorn – during its four home matches dating back to last Saturday. The quartet has helped Mercer improve from one win in its first two seasons of competition to back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2015 and 2016.
