Mercer Rolls Over ULM, Caps Impressive Opening Weekend

The Bears overwhelm the Warhawks, 4-1
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mercer continued its strong start to the 2017 campaign with a 4-1 win over ULM Saturday morning at the Blazer Beach Duals on the campus of UAB.
The Bears (3-0) completed the weekend sweep of its three foes, dropping only one set over the three matches. The Orange and Black won their two matches Friday against Jacksonville State and New Orleans.
Mercer's top four pairings all won in straight sets Saturday morning. Those pairings – Tori Penrod/Emily Krogman, Emma Peel/Sophie Peel, Danielle Faust/Clarie Waliczek and Madison Kerr/Amber Gibson – improved to 3-0 on the season.
Demi-Shay Watchorn/Jessica Johnson dropped the No. 5 seed match in a tough affair, falling 22-20 and 21-13. They fell to 1-1 on the campaign.
