Men’s Golf, Women’s Soccer Receive NCAA APR Public Recognition Award

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletics Association announced the 2017 Public Recognition Award winners with Mercer's men's golf and women's soccer teams receiving the accolade. The award is given to athletic teams ranking in the top 10 percent of Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores within Division I in their respective sports.
This marks the second consecutive year Mercer's men's golf program has received the APR Public Recognition Award while Mercer Women's Soccer has claimed its first honor.
Mercer has had at least one team receive the APR Public Recognition Award in each of the last four years.
Teams honored by the NCAA earned multiple Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in the top 10 percent for their sports. The most recent APR score is based on the scores from the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years. The public recognition awards are part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and are intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.
The NCAA will release the latest full APR data on Wednesday, May 10.
