Bears Face Bulldogs in Home Opener

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer volleyball team is set to kick off its home opener against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, this weekend. Mercer's first match will be on Friday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m., followed by another match at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2 in Hawkins Arena.

SCOUTING ALABAMA A&M
Alabama A&M was picked fourth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference preseason poll. Most recently, the Bulldogs dropped consecutive 3-0 decisions to North Carolina A&T and Savannah State in the ISTAP Collegiate Cup tournament. Ni'yesha Brown led the offense with 19 kills against North Carolina A&T. Payten Clark and Asha Daniels are the keys to their defense leading the Bulldogs with 5 assisted blocks (Clark) and 13 digs (Daniels).

NOTABLES

This will be the first time Mercer volleyball has competed against Alabama A&M.
Emily Krogman earned a spot on the Gamecock Invitational All-Tournament Team, registering 39 kills, seven digs, three blocks and two aces during the tournament.
Mercer is coming off a 3-1 win against Troy University.
Paige Alston contributed a total of 42 kills and 12 blocks in the Gamecock Invitational matches.
Freshman, Emilee Wissmach added solid playing time in all 12 sets, compiling a total of 34 digs this weekend.
