Mercer Travels to Compete in Ole Miss Classic

OXFORD, Miss. – The Mercer volleyball team will travel to Oxford, Miss. to compete in the Ole Miss Classic on Sept. 7-8. Mercer will kick off the trip against Northwestern State at 5 p.m. Thursday, following by two matches against Austin Peay (11 a.m.) and host Ole Miss (7 p.m.) on Friday.

The Demons are 3-4 leading into the Ole Miss Classic following a two-game win streak against Jackson State and Troy at the Troy Invitational. Reagan Rogers, the All-Tournament elective, leads the team with 74 kills and 12 service aces. Kourtney Seaton and Madeline Drake hold the defensive end, both totaling 14 blocks this season.

SCOUTING AUSTIN PEAY
Austin Peay, the No. 17-ranked team (NIVC) in the nation, is set to play the Bears Saturday. The 6-1 team, with their only loss from Northern Iowa, is looking to continue their three-game win streak. Kristen Stucker and Ginny Gerig nabbed the Adidas Ohio Valley Conference Players of the Week last week. Ashley Slay, another key player for the Governors, leads the team with 126 kills and 20 blocks.
SCOUTING OLE MISS
Emily Stroup, who was named to last week's A-State Invitational All-Tournament team, leads the Rebels with 94 kills. Lexi Thompson is one kill shy from being the co-leader for the Rebels. Ole Miss is 4-3 and currently riding a two-game losing streak to SMU and Arkansas State.
